Halloween comes with costumes, trick-or-treats, and candy. But why can’t it also come with delicious wine pairings? If you’re looking for the perfect pairing, look no further! These Halloween Wine & Candy pairings will provide no tricks, but delicious treats.

Twizzlers & Champagne

Twizzlers pairs fantastic with a Brut Champagne, providing a sweet and tart balance to the interesting flavor Twizzlers brings. My favorite Champagne for this pairing is Laurent-Perrier La Cuvée Brut.

The Twizzlers flavor profile of candied strawberry is a curious one indeed, and the beautiful bread-like notes of the Champagne give a comforting toast and jam-like experience.

Kit Kat & Merlot

Give me a break... and some Merlot! The chocolate and crispy wafer goes beautifully with the raspberry, smooth notes in this wine. Merlot Fact: This varietal is the most widely planted grape in France. Although Merlot isn’t the most popular grape right now, it is revered as the most respected varietal and one of 3 noble reds. Merlot originated from Bordeaux, and pairs amazingly with beef, lamb, or an incredible charcuterie board!

Candy Corn & Chardonnay

Time for the classics! Candy corn is a tradition and a must for Halloween, but the pairing is required. An oaky Chardonnay’s creaminess makes these little goodies even better.

Candy corn is starch-based with a fondant additive, providing an interesting texture. The popcorn butter notes of a Napa Chardonnay tend to elevate the flavors and enhance the texture element of this classic treat.

Snickers & Zinfandel

This Halloween pairing features yummy chocolate, caramel, and peanuts. Snickers and a beautiful Zinfandel, which adds a nice little pepper zing on the end. Not to mention the awesome blackberry. This isn’t your traditional wine (these days at least…), so definitely try to find a good one in the $18 range.

Reese’s & Cabernet Sauvignon

🎃👻MY FAVORITE PAIRING!!! 👻 🎃 When I tell you a Reese’s Pumpkin is my favorite candy in the whole world, I’m not joking. So this pairing is special.

Hence, I had to pair it with a beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon from Jordan Estate. The oaky, vanilla, and dark fruits only enhance the creamy chocolate and peanut outer sensations that this delicacy provides.

malbec_twix.jpg

Twix & Malbec

Another favorite pairing of mine, this time with the wine. Malbec and Twix pair so perfectly. The chocolate, caramel, and wafer go perfectly with the vanilla and spice of a perfectly aged Malbec. My favorite region is Mendoza, Argentina, where Malbec is king. You can find a very good bottle in the $12-18 range easily!

So the question of the day... are you a Right Twix or a Left Twix?

mms_syrah.jpg

M&M’s & Syrah

This pairing melts in your mouth, and not in your hand! M&M’s chocolate and hard sugar coating pair perfectly with a great Syrah. Syrah enhances the smooth chocolate taste with notes of jammy blackberry and herbs.

The Northern Rhône gives us beautiful expressions of Syrah, especially in Cornas AOC where wines are 100% Syrah.

riesling_skittles.JPG

Skittles & Riesling

Time to taste the rainbow! This wine pairing is a sweet on sweet, Riesling and Skittles! This combination brings out the floral and fruity notes of both candy and wine, adding a fun new way to enjoy Halloween!

Riesling often gets a bad rep and confused as a ‘sweet’ wine. Many Rieslings come as fresh, cool, and crisp, similar to the flavor profile of Skittles.

prosecco_sourpatch.jpg

Sour Patch Kids & Prosecco

This pairing is Prosecco and Sour Patch Kids! This might be a new favorite. The crisp, balance of the fruit and floral notes, as well as lighter bubbles due to the fermentation process make this a perfect match.

Sour Patch Kids is actually a very complex candy! You have sweet, sour, fruity, and gummy. That’s why Prosecco is perfect!

pinotnoir_hershey.JPG

Hershey’s Bar & Pinot Noir

Milky smooth chocolate deserves a wine to honor it this Halloween. This is 100% Pinot Noir, providing beautiful flavors that aren’t typically seen. The silky smooth feeling of both the Hershey’s Bar and this Pinot Noir makes it that much better.

What’s also very interesting is that Pinot Noir is a thin-skinned red grape grown in cooler climates, which provides a pop of rich fruit and mineral that the chocolate enhances.

Starburst & Sparkling Rosé

There’s only one thing better than Rosé all-day, and that is bubbly Rosé. This halloween🎃 winepairing is Starburst and Sparkling Rosé! The Rosé will certainly tame the bold fruit flavors of the Starburst, giving you a balanced fruit experience.

Sparkling Rosé typically adds a fresh strawberry notes to the mix, which pairs especially well with the FaveREDS Starburst!

Nerds & Gewürztraminer

Alright nerds, are you ready for this Halloween wine pairing? It’s a very adventurous one! Gewürztraminer and Nerds candy are a perfect match!

The crisp, tropical, and spicy flavors with the perfect acidity balance the sweet fruity flavors of the candy. Gewürztraminer gets a bad rep sometimes, as it’s sometimes compared to a sweet Riesling. It’s definitely not! Try this one today!!!
